Japanese Box Office


Kokuriko-Zaka KaraGoro Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's anime adaptation of Chizuru Takahashi and Tetsurō Sayama's shōjo coming-of-age manga, stayed at No. 6 in its eighth weekend on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart and slipped from No. 5 to No. 7 on Box Office Mojo's chart. It earned the equivalent of US$1,055,071 on 351 screens for a new total of US$52,098,325.
Screening in its fifth weekend, the double feature Gekijō Kamen Rider OOO: Wonderful Shōgun to 21 no Core Medal and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger the Movie Sora-Tobu Yūreisen fell from No. 5 to No. 9 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's box office chart and fell from No. 7 to No. 9 on Box Office Mojo's chart. They earned US$684,708 on 349 screens for a new total of US$21,842,864.
This year's two Pokémon films, counted together, dropped from No. 4 to No. 10 in their eighth weekend on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart and dropped from No. 8 to No. 10 on Box Office Mojo's chart. Combined, Gekijōban Pocket Monster Best Wishes! Victini to Kuroki Eiyū Zekrom and Gekijōban Pocket Monster Best Wishes! Victini to Shiroki Eiyū Reshiram earned US$589,839 on 330 screens for a grand total of US$52,984,249.
The live-action film adaptation Yumi Unita's Usagi Drop (Bunny Drop) film fell from No. 9 to No. 11 in its third weekend. It added US$580,399 on 115 screens to its total-to-date of US$5,512,053.
The Prince of Tennis: Eikoku-shiki Teikyū-jō Kessen!, the latest anime film based on Takeshi Konomi's manga, opened at #12. With just 28 screens, it earned US$512,619 for the weekend's highest per-screen average of US$18,308.
The paired screenings of Negima! Magister Negi Magi: Anime Final and Hayate the Combat Butler! Heaven is a Place on Earth were no longer listed on either chart, and neither was Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo the Movie: Kachidoki-bashi o Heisa seyo! The British film One Life was the new No. 1 film.
