The official website for the double-billed Negima! Magister Negi Magi: Anime Final and Hayate the Combat Butler! Heaven is a Place on Earth films began streaming a combined trailer at midnight on Saturday. Unlike the previous teaser trailer, this full trailer has animated footage. Akiyuki Shinbo (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei) is returning to direct the Negima! film at Studio Pastoral and SHAFT with character designer Noboru Jitsuhara of the recent Negima! video anime projects. Manga creator Ken Akamatsu is credited with the original story, and Deko Akao (Arakawa under the Bridge, Astarotte's Toy, Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream) is scripting.

First-time director Hideto Komori (animation director of Darker than BLACK, Ergo Proxy, House of Five Leaves) is helming and designing the Hayate the Combat Butler film at the studio Manglobe (The World God Only Knows). Yasuko Kobayashi (Kamen Rider Ryuki, Kamen Rider Den-O, Blassreiter, Casshern Sins, Claymore, Shakugan no Shana) is scripting based on a plot concept by manga creator Kenjirou Hata. Wataru Maeguchi (Kaichō wa Maid-sama!, Suzy's Zoo Daisuki! Witzy) is composing the music, while fripSide is performing the theme song "Heaven is a Place on Earth."

Although the original manga for these two films run in different magazines from different publishers, TV Tokyo aired the television anime adaptations of both. Together, the original manga for both have sold over 30 million copies.
