AVCon (Adelaide anime and video game convention) officially begins today and continues on Saturday the 23rd July to Sunday the 24th of July. The convention has entered its 10th year of opening its doors, and is to be held at the largest hall available at the convention center with doors opening at 5.00pm on Friday and doors opening at 10.00am on the weekend.
Several events such as anime screenings, panels, several cosplays, AMV competitions and many more. As well as anime and manga events, AVCon will also be hosting a variety of gaming tournaments and freeplay events throughout the convention, including a LAN area and the Indie Games Room.
Attending the convention as special guests are LittleKuriboh, the creator of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged Series, and Jade Gatt and Ryan Lappin, the former hosts of the morning cartoon show Cheez TV which screened various anime including Pokémon and Dragon Ball Z.
Tickets cost $50 for a weekend pass at the door, with concession and day passes available and children under 10 years old admitted free.
